Ape-ology workshops allow our members, supporters, and friends to expand their knowledge about great apes and the Center’s residents and additional opportunities to visit the sanctuary.
Workshops are divided into two main parts: the presentation or “classroom” component and the tour or “in the field” component. During our time in the classroom, participants can learn about the month’s topic through various visual presentations, videos, and guest speakers who are experts in their fields. From there, we travel out onto the sanctuary grounds for an imitation tour of a specific area relating to the topic. In previous workshops, we have been fortunate enough to tour our veterinary clinic, see a husbandry training session in process, celebrate apes’ birthdays, and, an always personal favorite, visit one-on-one with the caregivers who know the Center’s great ape residents the best.
Ape-ology offers smaller classes and is limited to the first 20 people per session, so register early. Workshops are $60 per person and run from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM on select dates.
The next Ape-ology: educational workshop discussing Great Ape Enrichment will be held on
