The Center for Great Apes offers a 3-month on-site volunteer internship for those desiring the opportunity to observe and experience the care of orangutans and chimpanzees in a sanctuary environment.

Intern volunteers assist with staff duties including: cleaning of indoor and outdoor habitats, making enrichment devices and toys, assisting with ape laundry, helping prepare ape diets, participating in observations of ape behaviors, cutting browse & vegetation for nesting, installing or repairing enrichment materials, assisting with general housekeeping duties, and occasionally leading educational visitor tours, helping with office work, and gardening.
