Wildlife tourism is a $250 billion-a-year industry.
These profits don't come without costs. Orangutans are star attractions at Wildlife Tourism attractions. Sharing 97% of our DNA, they are sentient and intelligent animals. When kept in captivity, at places that cannot cater to their complex physical and emotional needs, they often suffer from stress and depression.
Thankfully, there are groups working to mitigate this crisis. At Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation (BOS), they meet local heroes who rescue and rehabilitate rescued orangutans, ready for release back into the wild.
Only through education can change be made. You can screen the film in the comfort of your own home on Sunday, November 19th, for a $30 donation. The donation will not only benefit the orangutans (and chimpanzees) at the Center for Great Apes but also their wild orangutan counterparts under the care of BOS. The screening will be available for 48 hours.
